How do we promote learning in PE?
We provide varied learning opportunities, which aim to develop not only children’s fundamental skills in Physical Education but also to develop their team working and communication skills. We also offer various after school opportunities to encourage children to be more active and aim to provide a PE 'WOW' day every half term to give children the chance to meet an inspiration sports person, be active or try a new sport.
What does P.E. look like at St John's?
We strive to inspire our pupils through fun and engaging PE lessons that are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all.
Through our teaching of PE, we will provide opportunities for pupils to develop values and transferrable life skills such as fairness and respect as well as providing them with opportunities to take part in competitive sport.
As well as quality PE lessons in school, we also try to give as many pupils as possible the opportunity to take part in competitive sport outside of the school day. Being members of the Pennine Sports Partnership, enables us to enjoy and take part in many activities at Colne Valley High School.
Here are just some of the events and competitions planned for 2025-26. Please check the newsletter and Ping messages for further details.
